JL Landworx capabilities
Services for the ground your project depends on
Explore JL Landworx excavation, clearing, grading, drainage, boulder-wall, landscape and demolition services across Central Minnesota.
Site work planned as one connected scope
JL Landworx serves homeowners, builders, developers, agricultural property owners, and commercial project teams across Central Minnesota and the greater Twin Cities. Projects can range from a focused driveway tear-out or brush-clearing area to coordinated clearing, excavation, utilities, drainage, grading, and site handoff for new construction.
Combining related phases can reduce duplicated access and material handling, but each phase still needs a clear boundary. Start with the service below that best matches the main goal, then identify related work during the site review so the quote reflects the full sequence.

Excavation, clearing, and site development
- ExcavationExcavation is the controlled removal and placement of soil to prepare a site for construction — from foundations and basements to utilities, driveways, and drainage.Learn more →
- Site PreparationSite preparation is the work that turns raw or cleared land into a buildable site — soil beds, building pads, and subgrade preparation done to plan elevations.Learn more →
- GradingGrading is shaping the ground to the right elevations and slopes — rough grading for construction, finish grading for lawns, and regrading to fix drainage.Learn more →
- Drainage SolutionsDrainage work reshapes or plumbs the ground so water goes where it should — fixing standing water, wet basements, and erosion with swales, culverts, and drains.Learn more →
- Utility TrenchingUtility trenching is excavating narrow, properly sloped trenches for buried water, sewer, septic, electric, and other lines — then backfilling and compacting them correctly.Learn more →
- Driveways and CulvertsDriveway and culvert work covers building and rebuilding gravel driveways, excavating and prepping the base, and installing culverts so water crosses under the drive instead of over it.Learn more →
- Pond ExcavationPond excavation is digging, shaping, and deepening ponds — new pond construction, reshaping existing ponds, overflow and dam work, and managing the spoils.Learn more →
- Land ClearingLand clearing is the removal of trees, brush, stumps, and surface obstacles so a parcel can be built on, farmed, or maintained — from a single building lot to multi-acre tracts.Learn more →
- Boulder WallsBoulder retaining walls can manage grade changes using natural stone set on a prepared base with planned drainage, subject to the site, design, and applicable approvals.Learn more →
- Landscape ConstructionLandscape construction is the heavy-equipment side of landscaping — final grading, boulder walls, stone features, berms, and drainage-integrated shaping that turns a rough site into a finished landscape.Learn more →
- DemolitionDemolition is the controlled tear-down and removal of houses, garages, decks, driveways, sheds, and other light structures — including debris haul-off and restoring the site for what comes next.Learn more →
- Erosion ControlErosion and sediment control keeps soil on your site during and after construction — silt fence, inlet protection, and stabilization for disturbed ground and shorelines.Learn more →

Define the project goal
Share the property address, intended use, available plans, timing, and the work you expect before and after the JL Landworx scope.
Review the site
Access, existing improvements, vegetation, utilities, drainage, material quantities, staging, disposal, and restoration are reviewed before pricing.
Confirm scope and sequence
The quote identifies included services, exclusions, owner or trade prerequisites, material handling, handoff condition, and a current schedule.
Complete and hand off
Work proceeds in the agreed sequence, with the site left at the rough-grade, restoration, or next-contractor condition stated in the scope.
What to plan before site work
These details affect the method, price, and schedule across excavation, clearing, demolition, wall, drainage, and landscape scopes.
- Equipment and truck access from the road to the work area
- Public locates and identification of relevant private utilities
- Structures, trees, paving, landscaping, or boundaries that must remain protected

FAQ
Planning JL Landworx services
What areas does JL Landworx serve?
We're based in Princeton, Minnesota, and work across Central Minnesota and the greater Twin Cities metro — from the northwest metro suburbs through Wright, Sherburne, and Hennepin counties and the Lake Minnetonka area. If you're not sure whether your project is in range, call 763-587-3440 and ask.
How do I get a quote?
Call us or send the quote form with a short description of your project. A site walk may be needed before quoting because access, excavation volume, material handling, and restoration affect the scope.
Do you handle both residential and commercial work?
JL Landworx serves homeowners, builders, and commercial project teams, from a single boulder wall or driveway to coordinated site development for new construction.
Can one crew handle clearing, excavation, and grading together?
Yes — that's the advantage of hiring a site contractor instead of three separate ones. We can clear the lot, excavate to plan, manage drainage, and leave the site at rough grade, so you coordinate with one company instead of several.
When is the best time of year for excavation or clearing?
Most site work runs spring through fall. Frozen ground and spring thaw can limit access and digging, and saturated sites sometimes have to wait. Winter clearing is often possible. Ask about timing for your specific site when you request a quote.
Do I need to do anything before you start?
Know the work limits and point out anything buried that is not covered by public utility marking, such as private well lines, septic components, invisible fence, or irrigation. Required locates and project approvals must be confirmed before digging.
Build the right scope before work starts
Tell JL Landworx what the property needs to support and which plans, access details, utilities, timing, or contractor handoffs are already known. We’ll review the site and prepare a project-specific quote.
